<p>New complex halide phosphors of formula (I) (M1-fMgf)F2. aM'X2.bKX'.cM"SO4:dEu2+, eTb3+ (I) (where M, M' and M" are Ba, Sr and/or Ca; X and X' are Cl and/or Br; a-f have one of the following sets of valves: (1) 0.80 = a, =1.50, 0.10 =b, =1.50, c' = 0, 0.001 =d, =0.20, e' = 0, f' = 0, (2) 0.30 =a2 =1.50, 0.10 =b2 =2.000, 0.01 = c2 1.00, 0.001 = d2 =0.20, e2 =0, f2=0; (3)a3=1, b3.c3=0, d3=0.01-0.1. 0e3 =0.05, f3 = 0; (4) a4 = 1, b4 = 0, c4 = 0,0.001 =d4 =0.20, e4 = 0, 0 =f4 =1; (5)a5=1, b5=0-1.5, c5=0,0.001 =d5 =0.20, e5 = 0, 0 f5 =1). The phosphors are esp. suitable for use in X-ray image converters, e.g. intensifier screens, fluorescent screens or image intensifier tubes. Incorporation of KX' and opt. M"SO4 (as in cases 1,2 and 5) reduces afterflow duration compared with the Eu-activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide phosphors described in Ja 42582/1974, without impairing emission efficiency. Incorporation of Mg and/or Tb (as in cases 3,4- and 5) also results in very efficient emission.</p> |
