Adjustable spanner with locking mobile jaw - has side screw for tightening face of adjusting wheel against spanner body to prevent loss of setting

The adjustable spanner has a locking mobile jaw (2c) which prevents a loss of setting when used on several same size nuts (E). Adjustment is by means of a threaded wheel (3) in the spanner body (1) operating a rack (2a) on the mobile jaw. A screw (5) is fitted into the side of the spanner body, at an angle to the adjusting wheel axis (4). The screw has a rounded point (5b) and a knurled head and tightens against a bevelled flank (3a) on the wheel which pushes its opposite face against the spanner body to lock the setting. An insert (6) prevents loosening, or loss, of the screw.
