<p>A furnace contg. alternate fixed and moving members running the length of the furnace and incorporating a water cooling system for both fixed and moving sections. The moving parts are subdivided, although supported on a common beam. The coolant is supplied through a flexible joint to the beam and circulates through all parts of the framework, making use of the structural members wherever possible. The construction and coolant connection details are given for the different parts of the furnace where heating is provided from either above and below or just from underneath. The device arrangement for the moving parts produces a backwards and forwards movement plus and up and down movement all in one plane along the length of the furnace. The method of construction, interconnection and movement make the attainment of high temps. easier, provide for more even heating and reduce the number of external flexible pipe connections to a min. - one per moveable stringer section.</p> |
