Clamp holding sand lime bricks - which prevents damage when moving green bricks from a press to a hardening plant

Device for clamping pressed stone blanks during the mfg. of bricks, esp. lime sand bricks. The clamp has a traverse fitted with actuators for two outer clamping jaws (1, 2) which are located on the outside surfaces of two blanks. Between the inside surface of the two blanks is a pair or clamping jaws (3, 3') fitted on a pivot shaft and held together by a tension springs. The inside surfaces of jaws (3, 3') have a wedge-shaped profile mating with the two tapering surface of a wedge mounted on two rods attached to pivots. When the wedge is raised, e.g. by a work cylinder, jaws (3, 3') are forced outwards away from each other, thus clamping the two stone blanks against jaws (1, 2). After pressing sand lime bricks, the green bricks must be transferred to a hardening trolley or a conveyor while they are still weal. The invention provides a clamp which can pick up two bricks while there is a gap between the bricks. i.e. the latter do not have to be pressed together and can thus be transferred to a hardening appts. without damage.
