The fender of elastic is intended for ships and harbours. It is barrel-shaped and has a porous inner part, and an integral outer jacket. The fender has a central axial passage aperture (5). The porous inner part consists of disc sections (3, 4) connected by adhesive. The jacket is preferably applied by centrifugal casting. The specific gravity is 0.3, with porous part being 0.2 and the jacket 1.25. The jacket walls (2) may be thicker at the front ends than in the cylindrical surface. The discs may have a concave cross section, and the outer jacket may be profiled.
