Protective facing for pipe ends - has bendable elastic strip adhered to pipe inner surfaces and bent over ends

The protective strip (6) is for the face surfaces at pipe ends. A bendable, elastic synthetic material strip (2) adheres to the inner surface of the pipe, with bent over edge surfaces (3) which completely or partly encompass the pipe face surface (4, 5). The strip (6) edge surface (3) is bent over in the form of a U-profile. The opening between the arms of the U-formation is smaller than or equal to the pipe wall thickness. An alternative formation of the edge surface (3) is for it to be bent in the form of an arc where it engages over the thrust surface (4) of the pipe. As an added protection, the pipe thrust surface (4) can be protected by a soft plastic sheet (8) interposed between it and the face of the protective strip edge surface (3).
