<p>The process is for determining the clamping axis and for centering, where round timbers are being cut in veneer paring machines. The timber is controlled in a number of sections at set intervals from the end faces, with setting values stored in cartesian coordinates or similar. The smallest interval from one of the reference points (O) is established, and this point is moved far enough away in cross-section for it to take up a centre position between the next point and the 180 deg. opposite peripheral point.
