<p>A rotary cooler, which has solids lifters inside the shell, is fitted with a circumferential metal grid between the lifters and the shell. This forms and retains a layer of solids in contact with the shell wall. Used in rotary coolers for high temp. solids, such as cement clinker, which are normally arranged in planetary fashion around a rotating high temp. kiln. A refractory lining for the cooler shell is unnecessary, so that the expense of this and the time lost in renewing it regularly, are avoided.</p> |
