The wire or strip material which is to be fed to presses is held in a pair of stationary jaws which work in counter phase with a pair of moving jaws which transport the material. The movement of the supply jaws and the length of the infeed stroke is determined by a pair of adjustable stops. The infeed arrangement is driven by a gear or chain wheel driven either directly from the press drive or by a separate motor. The connection between the drive for the infeed arrangement and the supply jaws is such that when the stop is reached the drive is uncoupled. The drive is only then coupled again when the drive movement can move the supply jaws away from the stop. The drive for the supply jaws is in the form of an adjustable crank in which a spring loaded telescopic tube is included.
