1498086 Modified kaolinite YARA ENG CORP 31 Oct 1975 [30 June 1975] 45509/75 Heading C1A A high bulking kaolinite clay pigment is prepared by adding an organic flocculant having a molecular weight below 1,000,000 to an aqueous suspension of kaolinite, 90 wt. per cent of which have an equivalent spherical diameter of less than 2 microns, and a minor amount of mica having a particle size of less than 150 mesh, flocculating the kaolinite in admixture with the mica, separating and drying the resultant mixture to obtain a dry pigment. The mica content is preferably 0À05 to 1% by weight of pigment. The preferred flocculant is a mixture of polyamine, such as ethylene diamine or hexamethylene diamine, and citric acid. |
