1498078 Screw extruder barrel WERNER & PFLEIDERER KG 29 April 1975 [1 June 1974] 17843/75 Heading B5A In a screw extruder comprising a housing 1 having one or more axially parallel bores for a screw shaft or shafts, the wall of the or each bore is provided over its periphery with recesses bounded by lands 9, and wear inserts 10 are located in the recesses so as to cover the lands and form a wear-resistent lining over the entire periphery. The recesses may have an undercut profile. An insert 12 for the saddles 6, 7 between adjacent bores may be provided. The inserts may be constructed to bridge adjacent recesses (Fig. 3, not shown). The recesses are formed parallel to the axis of the bores and the inserts consist of pre-shaped parts of hard metal or ceramics. Alternatively, additional recesses extending tangentially or helically may be present, in which case the inserts are formed of materials such as various ceramic compositions which are filled into the recesses and then hardened. |
