The saw blade is coated in the cutting area with an insulating lubricant prior to or during the sawing step. The parent capacitor may comprise an annular winding of strips of stretched heat-shrinkable plastics material coated with valve metal, heat generated on sawing causing local shrinking of the plastics material and the formation of mutually insulated islands of the metal layer. The lubricant may be oil, grease or wax. As shown blocks 2, 3 of wax are pressed against saw blade 1 preferably between each two successive sawing processes. |
