PURPOSE:To vary print density on a medium freely by providing an optical modulator which uses electrooptic effect on an optical axis, applying a proper voltage in synchronism with luminous flux from a light source having image information, and varying the quantity of the luminous flux. CONSTITUTION:This device is for an electrophotographic printer and equipped with a light source part 1 which emits the luminous flux containing the image information, a scanning part 2 which makes the luminous flux scan on a photosensitive body 5, a correction part 3 which corrects the optical axis of the luminous flux, and the optical modulator 4 which is provided on the optical axis 6 right behind the light source and varies the quantity of the projection luminous flux by using electrooptic effect. For the purpose, the proper voltage is applied to the optical modulator 4 in synchronism with the luminous flux containing the image information and then the quantity of the luminous flux varies in proportion to the applied voltage. Consequently, the quantity of the exposure of the photosensitive body 5 can be adjusted and the print density on the medium can freely be varied. |
