<p>1421023 Antibacterial compositions MERCK & CO Inc 29 Jan 1973 [3 Feb 1972 13 Dec 1972] 4426/73 Heading A5B Antibacterial compositions comprise as active ingredients a mixture of 3-fluoro-D-alanine, a deuterated 3-fluoro-D-alanine, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt or ester thereof with an autoantagonist inhibitor, which is a compound that has the ability, or that is converted in aqueous media to a compound having the ability, to inhibit the action of the D-alanyl-D-alanine synthetase and/or D-alanine;α-ketoglutarate transaminase enzymes of microorganisms, e.g. D-cycloserine, 1, 4-bis-(3- oxoisoxazolidin-4-yliminomethyl) benzene, D- (cis or trans)-4-amino-5-methylisoxazolidin-3- one and compounds that in vivo or in solution in an aqueous medium liberate D-cycloserine, D-(cis or trans)-4-amino-5-methylisoxazolidin- 3-one. The 3-fluoro-D-alanine component may be 3-fluoro-D-alanine, 2-deutero-3-fluoro-D-alanine, 2, 3-dideutero-3-fluoro-D-alanine, 2, 3, 3- trideutero-3-fluoro - D - alanine, a C 1-5 alkyl ester thereof such as the methyl ester, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt such as the sodium, calcium or hydrochloride salt. The compositions may be administered orally or parenterally in the form of capsules, tablets, solutions or suspensions.</p> |
