COATED GLASS BOTTLE

The present invention provides a glass bottle coated with a multi-layered protection on its exterior surface. The base coat is a soft elastic polyurethane polymer and the top coat is a compatible hard tough polyurethane polymer which is substantially abrasion and washing resistant. Our glass bottle is one which is primarily used for beer or carbonated beverages and our protective multi-layered coating prevents or retards scattering of glass fragments when the bottle is broken and also enhances scratch and abrasion resistance which is encountered in returnable or reusable bottles.
