The skirting board (10) is made from a moulded hard PVC foam (12) faced with a sheet of PVC (14) and has an inclined top edge (16) which butts against the wall (18). Inside the skirting board is a central L-shaped nib (22) which forms a channel (24) for cables (60) and another nib (26) springing from this forms a channel (28) into which clips the skirting board fixing bracket(34). This bracket is made from a single piece of metal or plastic and is fixed to the wall by screws (42) placed through slotted holes which allows a carpet to be fitted under the skirting board. It has stirrup pieces (32) with branches (30) which dip into the skirting board and an L-shaped foot piece (38) which rests on the floor or carpet.
