<p>The concn. by flotation of ores with fine granule size and/or oxidised, partic. ores of lead oxide or copper oxide with carbonated or silicated gangue, is achieved using a flotation reagent which is a beta-diketone of formula R1COCHR2COR3, where R1 is H or lower (e.g. 1-7C) alkyl, (thio) phenyl, R2 is H or lower alkyl, R3 is (halo)alkyl, phenyl. A suspension of the ores in an aq. soln. contg. the flotation reagent, with pH pref. 5-9 is stirred and aerated, the particles which float are recovered. Minerals of Cu or Pb can be floated selectively using this type of flotation reagent, without the use of additives as was necessary with previous flotation reagents.</p> |
