<p>A three-part lever mechanism for manoeuvring each of the twin hourglass fingers associated with a tyre building machine for doubling the ply edges back over the bead cords. The three parts of the lever are linked by pivot pins aligned at right angles to the tyre drum mandrel axis. The main lever is supported on a pivot mounted on a slide and is swung by a suitable ram. The second part is held straight with respect to the first by a spring. The third level supports the finger and is normally held at an angle to the other two levers by another spring, which is stronger than the first spring.</p> |
