Lock for vehicle swining door comprises a fixed bolt of which the bottom is in the form of a runner and the top delimits >=2 successive notches. A keeper delimits a transverse housing of which one edge supports the runner of the bolt and which communicates with a recess contg. a pivot catch or latch forming a stay which is spring loaded. The end of the latch has a shape complementary so that to part of each notch, so that all the normals passing through this part of the notch and the end of the latch pass through the pivot axis of the catch. The keeper is pref. made of self-lubricating acetal resin. The lock has high strength and safety, and allows perfect centering of the door when closed with its seal compressed to prevent vibration.
