The ink metering unit for printing machine has several slide strips (30) movable individually in a radial direction to the ductor roller. The side edges (31, 32) of the strips have cut-outs (41, 42) near their ends which contact the roller. The cut-outs hold somewhat overdimensioned elastic inlays (43, 44) which seek to force the strips apart. The strips are held in contact against the opposing force of the inlays by side plates at the ends of the ink case. Each strip has a narrow central section (36) so that only the front and rear ends (35, 37) of neighbouring strips contact one another.
