A heat exchanger element comprises a central duct for one heat exchange medium and integrally formed radial ribs extending axially along this duct. This central duct is directly surrounded by a further, generally annular duct through which the same medium flows in the reverse direction; this annular duct comprises radial ribs, interconnecting its inner and outer walls. Outside this annular duct again, is a further duct (I) for the other heat exchange medium, consisting of an outer wall (II) connected by radial ribs to the outer wall of the central duct. Pref. this outer duct nI) is subdivided into flow sectors by a number of circumferential partitions. The outer wall (II) may be thermally insulating. The arrangement is suitable for any heat exchange element, but partic. in process technology or the heating and cooling of buildings; also in waste heat utilisation from smoke ducts, etc. The arrangement ensures an economical layout with considerably improved heat exchange efficiency. The number of partitions and the dimensions and lengths of ducts can be varied to suit the particular purpose.
|
