<p>A track point for a toy or model railway can be switched in order to select one of two possible track sections. Since the point is part of a track system which carries the power supply for the engine, it must cater for mechanical as well as electrical switching. A recess in the underside of the base plate locates a star shaped switch arm on a pivot. It also houses an electromagnetic operating mechanism which is linked to the switch arm. When the recess is closed by a cover plate, plug holes in the cover plate are provided in order to connect the power supply cable for the switch mechanism.</p> |
