1497808 Web formers KARL KROYER ST ANNE'S Ltd 3 May 1976 [29 May 1975] 23369/75 Heading D1N Apparatus for dry forming a fibre layer comprises a distributor box 10 with a perforated bottom wall 12 spaced above a foraminous forming surface 20 to which suction is applied, a plurality of obturators 31 being disposed at pre-selected positions at the air gap between box 10 and surface 20 so as to modify the lateral air flow and being adjustable to vary peripherally the positions where the air can flow and thereby effect the distribution of fibres. As shown the obturators are flaps which can be slid along rods 32, 33 or swung to an inoperative position 31b. Alternative obturators can be formed by rollers which are driven to prevent a build up of fibre, or flexible skirts which are discontinuous to function as separate flaps.
