<p>The mechanism enables an infirm person to lower himself into a bath. A seating surface (3) is carried by a frame with a hook shaped part (1) which fits over one edge of the bath. This is held in place by a locking screw (12) on the outside. The frame includes a parallelogram linkage with two L shaped arms (22, 23). Attached to one of these arms (22) is a swinging latch arm (4) which when operated to release the linkage, lowers the seat to the bottom of the inside of the bath, assisted by two springs (F1, F2). The latch engages a set of teeth which return the seat in its lowered position. A mechanism (31-35) under the seat enables the springs to be adjusted.</p> |
