Optical light guide fibre bundles - produced in concentric nozzles of concentric crucibles by centring cone forming bundles for coiling

Optical light guide fibres are drawn from an inner crucible for the core material and an outer crucible for the sheath material, both with a pattern of coaxial concentric nozzles in their bottom plates. A system of stoppers can be used to close the nozzles from below. Lopping knives sever the fibres from the stoppers before a protective coating is applied and the fibres are grouped to a bundle in a centring cone ready for winding into coils. Sheathed optical light guide fibres can thus be produced in bundles, ready for installation.
