<p>Transporting and testing appts. for individual potato chips, carrots etc. or other vegetables of uniform colouring includes a channel along which the aligned vegetables pass and which is associated with a sensor heat for monitoring colour differences along the vegetable. A cutting device in the appts. is activated by the sensor and consists of two spaced coupled knives aligned in the path of the vegetables. These knives are moved from a rest, position into or through the path of the moving vegetables. A jet of compressed air issures from a nozzle incorporated into the appts. so that the air is directed at the intervening space between the two knives in their working position so that the defective piece of cut out vegetable is collected separately.</p> |
