<p>Thermally insulated structure is a hermetically sealed chamber with numerous spaced radiation screens inside the chamber; a spacer consisting of a low-density, open-cellular insulation (1-2m thick) interposed between each screen and a gas. The thermal screens consist of aluminised terephthalic acid ethylene glycol polyester (I), gold-plated (I), Kapton (RTM), Al- or Ta-foil. The spacer has 1-2.4 cells per mn. The gas is CO2, CCl2F2, CHClF2, CF4 or C2ClF5. Gives superior insulation from heat-conduction, -convection and -radiation.</p> |
