Decorative knitted fabric comprises an inlaid yarn between the two sides of a double jersey fabric. The inlaid yarn is a non-elastic yarn with an appearance contrasting with that of the knitted yarns, and extends along selected courses. It is secured by catch loops behind stitches on the front side of the fabric. Circular knitting machine for mfg. the fabric comprises cylinder and rib needles, of which selected needles are programmed at a given feed point to rise into an operative position. A pair of spaced freely rotatable brushes come into contact with the top ends of the cylinder neeleds. The axes of rotation oft he first brush behind the feed point, and of the second brush, ae at 33 degrees plus-or-minus 4 degrees and 17 degrees plus-or-minus 4 degrees to the horizontal, and at 14 degrees plus-or-minus 4 degrees and 20 degrees plus-or-minus 4 degrees to the radius, respectively. |
