1507290 Castors W A DEUTSHER PTY Ltd 23 July 1976 [25 July 1975] 30758/76 Heading A4N A castor comprises a body having a bore 30 for rotatably receiving the hubs 34 of wheels 16, and a socket 46 for swivelably receiving a spindle 14 which is engageable in a bore 62 in an article 12. Flanges 32 in the bore 30 snap-engage in grooves 38 in the hubs 34 to rotatably retain the hubs in the bore. The spindle 14 is formed as a sleeve which has a rib 58 snap-engaged with a shoulder 51 in the socket 46 to rotatably retain the spindle in the socket. Ears 52 on the spindle 14 engage the top of the castor body, and cleats 54 and tabs (56), fixedly retain the spindle in the bore 62. The bore 62 may be square. A resilient plastics tyre (64), e.g. of polyurethane, may be snap-engaged over the rim 44 of each wheel 16. The castor may be formed of moulded thermoplastic components, and the hubs 34 may be strengthened by metal inserts. The spindle 14 may be of metal. In a second embodiment, Fig. 9 (not shown), the spindle 14 has a solid lower part retained by a circlip in the socket 46 and engaged by an adjustable screw-threaded plug (68) whereby the position of the castor is adjustable relative to the article 12. |
