The prestressed fracture-resistant framework beam, for wooden and steel scaffolding, of solid timber or hollow frame panels, is assembled from four elements. It is prestressed towards the top, and has a downstand beam plate, end face plate, and two suspension hooks at each end for screwing to all four elements. It is non-displaceable axially, and fracture and accident proof. Lightweight low-strength timber can be used, with no danger of excessive sag under loading. Length can be 3-6 m, breadth 600 mm, and thickness 30 - 45 mm.
