<p>Outside the furnace is a mixing chamber consisting of an outer conical body with an axial air inlet at its narrow end. Inside the chamber is a conical insert with a cone blending into a round outside dia. followed by a curved flange joining the body. Two tangential gas inlets are located near the air inlet and in the first third of the length of the body; and a tangential gas-air mixt. outlet is used at the wide end of the body to carry the mixt. to a nozzle in the furnace. The pref. burner has body length 280 mm; gas inlet nozzles 0.5-2 mm dia., located 83 mm from an air inlet pipe of 47 mm bore dia. The base of the body is 135 mm dia., and the insert has cone length 190 mm leading to a round section 55mm long and 108 mm dia. The mixt. outlet tube is 55mm dia., leading to a nozzle 6mm dia. The burner is of very simple construction, providing efficient mixing of gas and air, where only pressurised gas is fed into the mixing chamber, which the draws air into the chamber by suction created by the gas stream.</p> |
