PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint device capable of corresponding even to a throating coping and a throating cover and capable of supporting even a large joint cover with sufficient strength. SOLUTION: At least one of building frames opposed at an opening S is formed in a parapet building frame 1, supporting members 2 are fixed to the opening side of the top face section of the parapet building frame 1 and another building frame respectively, holders are built to the upper sections of the supporting members 2 on both sides, and a joint cover 4 in width wider than the opening between the parapet building frames 1 and in width narrower than size between the outer ends of the parapet building frames 1 is installed to the holders. End sections on the insides of throating copings 25 covering the whole of the top face sections of the parapet building frames 1 or end sections on the insides of throating covers 35 covering parts on the opening sides of the top face sections of the parapet building frames 1 are engaged selectively with the side sections of each supporting member 2.
