In bedsteads having slats (1) which are arranged spaced apart transversely to the longitudinal supports (4) of a support frame and are mounted on the longitudinal supports (4) in bearing bodies (2) fitted onto their ends, there is the problem of achieving as far as possible unimpeded pivotability of the slats (1) about their longitudinal axes because the slats can only in this way adapt sufficiently to the changing direction of loading in accordance with the different body positions of the user. The solution provides for projections of the bearing bodies (2) which are located opposite the underside or upperside of the slats (1), are arranged centrally relative to the slat width and receive the slat ends between them substantially without play. Appropriate cambering of the inner surfaces of the bearing bodies may possibily fulfil the same purpose. The slats can thus carry out the desired pivoting movements with their cross-section. Central projections also on the surfaces of the bearing bodies located on the end faces of the slats further improve the easy pivotability by reducing the end-face friction. <IMAGE>
