The mechanical feed drive, with two axes fixed relative to one another and an axis displaceable between them, consists of the drive sheave (2) which is located on the displaceably arranged headstock (1) and against which the toothed belt (4) is pressed by means of two deflection pulleys (3) likewise fastened to the headstock (1). The toothed belt (4) transmits the torque from the headstock (1) to the feed sheave (6) firmly mounted in the standard (5). The tension of the toothed belt (4) is maintained by the deflection sheave (7) likewise firmly mounted in the standard (5). <IMAGE>
