The discs may have a thermal conductivity of greater than 0À04 cal. cm./cm.2/sec./‹ C. and a friction coefficient of greater than 0À08 between adjacent discs over an operating range of -65‹ to 4000‹ F. The discs may each have an impact strength of greater than 5 inch pounds per inch. The discs may be made by repeated impregnation and heating steps, the final heating step being in excess of 2500‹ C. The discs may be used for forming a low wear disc brake assembly.
