THE SCAN CONVERTING METHOD IN PARC ALGORITHM FOR RAY CASTING OF VOLUME DATA

PURPOSE: A scan converting method in a PARC(Polygon Assisted Ray Casting) algorithm for ray casting of volume data is provided to use efficiently a PARC algorithm in a platform as well as a graphics hardware by utilizing a scan converting method using a reference table in the PARC algorithm. CONSTITUTION: PARC levels of regular hexahedrons as objects of scan converting are determined. A reference table is generated by performing scan converting for one regular hexahedron composing the object. Volume data of the determined regular hexahedrons are determined. The scan converting for z-buffers is performed by applying the generated reference table to the regular hexahedrons including the volume data. A ray casting algorithm for the z-buffers is performed. The ray casting algorithm for the volume data is performed.
