<p>1460694 Knitting machines MASRIERA SA 18 July 1974 [6 Aug 1973] 31863/74 Heading D1C A rotary cylinder circular knitting machine is adapted to knit open fabric by removing needles and possibly other instruments from at least one zone of the cylinder circumference, a retaining shears being provided at each feed so as to sever, trap and subsequently release the yarn being knitted during passage of the needle free zone through the feed, such shears being closed by a stop fast with the cylinder following the upstream end of the zone and opened by a slidable stop 18 mounted in a cylinder trick before the downstream end of the zone, a yarn lifting means 19 being mounted to slide in a trick following said upstream end for lifting the yarn into the jaws 37 of the shears, and the stop 18 and lifting means 19 being controlled by cams at each feed. The shears are spring biassed to open position and the first-mentioned stop engages an arm 45 to close the jaws 37 by way of a cam 44. The shears are latched in the closed position until the stop 18 engages an arm 57 to release the latch. The stop 18 and lifting means 19 are equipped with control butts and are mounted above jacks which cooperate with cams at each feed. Each feed may also comprise two or more yarn feeders and a further retaining shears for colour striping, such apparatus being controlled by means actuated on the passage of the needle free zone through the feed at which the yarn change is to be effected. Groups of needles 4a. 4b provide for better selvedges.</p> |
