Input signal, which is represented by serial combination of binary symbols, is converted from serial code to parallel and compared against reference marker combination. Device which implements said method provides possibility to connect frame synchronization marker, which lack fault symbols, to detect frame synchronization marker, which has at most one fault symbol, and to detect frame synchronization marker, which has at most two fault symbols.
