<p>Shear assembly for cutting safety belts in an emergency to give quick removal of passenger. It consists of a support (1) which has a slot (3) in two parts through which is threaded the belt (2). Tensioners (10) prevent slipping of the belt. On the upper part of the support is hinged the arm (4) of the shear with a cutting edge (7) in the form of a guillotine. This can come in contact with the belt when pressure is exerted on a knob (6), by pivoting around an axis (5). An opening (9) is provided in the support to enable the cutting edge to make a clean cut through the belt. A spring (8) prevents accidental belt cutting.</p> |
