摘要 |
PURPOSE:To obtain both in high selectivity and yield the title compound useful as a raw material for highly functional plastics and electrically conductive materials by reaction between a naphthalene and an alkylating agent in the presence of a H-mordenite-type zeolite catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be obtained by reaction at 200 -280 deg.C between a naphthalene and an alkylating agent (esp. propylating agent) in the presence of a H-mordenite-type zeolite catalyst. It is preferable that the amount of the alkylating agent to be used be such as to be 1.5-3 molar times and 0.7-1.0 molar time based on naphthalene and a monoalkylnaphthalene, respectively. The reaction is carried out in a flow reaction scheme with a catalyst immobilized bed for 0.1-10hr. Said alkylating agent is e.g. an olefin, alcohol. ester, alkyl halide. For the reaction solvent, in the case of a liquid phase reaction under pressure where an alcohol is used as the alkylating agent, a high- boiling saturated hydrocarbon such as decane is suitable. |
