<p>Use of an amorphous coating or pad of paste, powder or liquid over the patterned surface of a prefabricated retread to be consolidated by use of vacuum cover against the surface of a suitably prepd. tyre carcass. The coating or pad acts as a pressure transfer medium to the tread surface during lay-up of the tread, opt. with underlying supportive plies and cords, and during hot vulcanisation under pressure. The coating/pad penetrates into the grooves of the tread pattern to ensure distribution of the external pressure to the substrate layers of the tread strip, thus inhibiting alignment displacement or tread distortion.</p> |
