The holder which is used for securing pictures in picture frames comprises support members (5) of a pliable frictional material seated on the inner face of the frame arms aligned transversely to the plane of the frame and/or on the peripheral faces (7) of the picture (4) or other plate-like insert. The effective faces of these support members (5) are designed to be pushed under bias onto the adjoining counter faces of the frame (1) and/or plate-like member. The support members are pref. made from strips or pieces of porous of fibrous material e.g. felt and over one part of their bulk lie in a recess, e.g. between two peripheral webs (8, 9) of the frame.
