<p>The supplementary magnetically operated reed relay and associated cable which can be installed in a standard Wortmann water meter to allow remote monitoring of water consumption. The water meter if driven from a water screw via a magnetic coupling (1) and comprises a number of geared parts with two indicator needles (4, 5) all mounted in a sealed unit (5, 7, 8) within an outer casing (9, 10) which is not sealed. These casings allow the meter to be read through suitable windows (10, 6). A small permanent magnet (12) is mounted on the main counter needle during manufacture, and this allows a magnetically operated feed relay (14) to be mounted outside the seal but inside the outer casing, when required. A relay cable (15) can be threaded through the interstices in the outer casing to a remote counter.</p> |
