This reclining arm chair consists of a base and frame. The base carries two parallel rails along which the frame runs on rollers. The frame consists of a seat, a backrest and a foot rest which folds away when the backrest is upright. The backrest has a carrier on each side each of which is connected by a hinge to a seat carrier. When the back rest is tipped backwards, a series of levers, connected from the backrest carriers to the foot rest carriers, push the foot rest outwards. A cord connected from the back of one footrest, via a pulley on the rear of the frame, to a point at the front of the base pulls the chair forwards along the rails. This allows the chair to be stood close to the wall, without the necessity to move it forwards when reclining. |
