Progressive control for transmission characteristic modification - has null point shift and response variation using potentiometers

The progressive control is for varying the transmission characteristics of remote-control systems. It provides continuous shift of the neutral point in both directions without limiting the displacement range of the control element. An integrator (9) supplies a voltage which increases linearly (12) and this is converted into an S-shaped waveform (17) in a harmonic generator (16). A potentiometer (15) connected across the generator has its wider connected to one input of a comparator (10). The second input is derived from the control unit potentiometer (11). The characteristic can be varied from fully progressive to linear. A trimming potentiometer on the input of the integrator provides adjustment of the null point of the final control element.
