A desorber (1) contains a 50% ammonia in water solution. Low temperature heat from a power station condenser is used to drive the ammonia out of solution as a gas. The gas is condensed in an air cooled heat exchanger (3) and a pump (7) increases the pressure of the resulting liquid. The high pressure liquid is evaporated in a heat exchanger (5) and passed into an absorber (2) which contains a weak ammonia solution. It dissolves and in so doing gives up heat to a water coil (9) in the absorber at a relatively high temperature. The strengths of the solutions in the absorber (2) and desorber (1) are maintained by liquid circuits (10, 11) between them containing a pump (8), a throttling valve (12) and a heat exchanger (6).
|
