The piston and connecting rod assembly for an Ic engine has the connecting rod (2) provided with a concave seat (7) abutting the periphery of the pin. The connecting rod is secured to the pin by two relatively long screws (5) threaded into holes in the pin. The holes in the connecting rod contg. the respective screws are counterbored to receive a spacer tube (8) seated at one end on the bottom (14) of the counterbore. The other end of the tube is abutted by the head (12) of the screw. The bottom of the counterbore is relatively close to the seat.
