A copper (Cu) alloy comprises Cu matrix containing specified amount of chromium (Cr), tin, zinc and Cu and unavoidable impurities. Cu matrix contains 1/*10<3>-3/*10<5> pieces/mm<2> of precipitate phase (A) of Cr or its compound, with maximum diameter of 0.1-10 mu m, and precipitate phase (B) of Cr or its compound with maximum diameter of 0.001-0.3 mu m, present in an amount 10 times than content of phase (A). A copper alloy comprises copper matrix containing (in weight%) chromium (0.2-0.35), tin (0.1-0.5), zinc (0.1-0.5) and remainder being copper and unavoidable impurities. Copper matrix contains 1/*10<3>-3/*10<5> pieces/mm<2> of precipitate phase (A) of chromium or its compound, with maximum diameter of 0.1-10 mu m and precipitate phase (B) of chromium or its compound with maximum diameter of 0.001-0.3 mu m, present in an amount 10 times than the content of phase (A) An Independent claim is also included for manufacture of copper alloy by heat processing at 880-980 deg C followed by hot working. The alloy is subjected to aging treatment before or after cold working, at 360-470 deg C.
