Prodn. of halogenated, unsaturated hydrocarbon is effected by simultaneous and common halogen substitution of a hydrocarbon and thermal decomposition of an alkyl halide. An exothermic reaction of a halogen with a selected hydrocarbon in the vapour phase is carried out in a first reaction zone (I) in the presence of fine particulate solids, so that a selected alkyl halide comprising >=2 halogen atoms in the molecule is formed, accompanied by heat production; this heat is absorbed by the solid particles; Simultaneously, an additional quantity of the selected alkyl halide is introduced into a second reaction zone (II) the solid particles are transported from (I) to (II) where they give up their heat to promote dehydrohalogenisation of the additional alkyl halide in this zone, thus producing a halogenated, unsaturated hydrocarbon with the same number of carbon atoms in the molecule as the alkyl halide. Used partic, for the prodn. of vinyl chloride. Effective transfer of the considerably heat produced (I) to (II) where it is required, is attained.
|
