The spherules have a diameter of 1000 to 50,000 ANGSTROM and consist of molecular layers of lipid compounds whose molecule contains a hydrophilic ionic group and a lipophilic group. They contain an aqueous phase to be encapsulated, it being possible for this aqueous phase to contain dissolved substances with cosmetic, alimentary or pharmaceutical action. Such a dispersion is prepared, for example, by homogenising a mixture of sphingomyelin and of a glucose solution, by adding a solution of NaCl or KCl and vigorously agitating the whole. The spherules obtained have a diameter of approximately 2 microns and are therefore sufficiently large not to pass through the skin, and this is advantageous in the case of cosmetic applications. |
